Winter Came
As winter came, the number of plague victims began to fall. The cold temperature killed the rats and fleas, who were responsible for spreading the disease.

The Great Fire
The 1665 Great Fire of London destroyed the poorest sections London, where most of the fleas and rats lived. Between the winter and the fire the rats and fleas were almost eliminated and therefore the spread of the plague stopped.
